School Leaver Employment Supports - My Future
The journey from being a student at school to becoming an adult at work is different for everyone; a significant milestone but, with the right support, it can be an exciting and safe adventure.
My Future aims to support school leavers on their journey from school to work by progressively introducing them to a range of opportunities to try different types of work, develop personal skills and confidence, and learn how to succeed in employment.
We start engaging with students and their families in their last year of school, we work on building a relationship and planning together how your future supports will look.
My Future is led by our Employment Coordinator and is supported by Community Support Workers, and Educators at Kangan Institute. Providing a pathway that is tailored to meet individual abilities, preferences and aspirations. Our new model provides you the supports, skills and the opportunity to be ready for a valued role in your community.
Together with our Employment Coordinator and Community Support workers, a safe and supportive environment is our focus to develop the right skills.
Our point of difference is that we also offer an Accord Employment Service, operating a successful Disability Employment Service (DES) that can directly support My Future clients to find and keep regular paid work when they are ready for open employment.
The School Leaver Employment Support (SLES) funding is an annualised funding model. This model provides maximum flexibility in the delivery of supports:
• SLES offers you individualised support for up to two years
• SLES is NDIS support available to school leaver’s who have a goal to work in employment
• An exit report is completed by Accord at the end of the two years or on exit to a DES, whichever is earlier
• This is for the school leavers’ who have employment in their plan but not suited for DES pathway straight from school.
