Traditionally Oaks Day at Melbourne Carnival Races is Ladies Day where fussing over fascinators, colour coordination, clutches, higher the better heels complete for the swivelling of heads on the day.
Oaks Day at St John of God Accord is just as elaborated and celebrated with the same distinction for all our clients. As an organisation that promotes inclusion and equality our male clients join in the excitement bedazzling us with their on trend appearance as a number of sharp dressed men joined the fun fare.
The Welcome Lounge was transformed in to a racing carnival as clients flaunted fashionable fascinators and colourful hats. Refreshing mocktails added to the atmosphere of the day but the biggest winner were the beautiful smiles of our clients that beamed all day.
Lots of wagers were placed on races and cheers rang out when winners came in on the TV’s. Notably the anticipated yearly fashion parade took place and clients went gusto to win the coveted prize of ‘Fashion on the Field’. Samantha Melli and John Taylor took out first prize in their category.
Staff turned the music up and the TV’s off; clients took to floor with glee. As day the finished and clients went home, an air of satisfaction lingered in the Welcome Lounge. Staff smiled at each other as another Oaks Day drew to conclusion with the usual success.
