Making a difference in Sophia's life

Presently living with four other women Sophia attends a local day program. Here she developed her artistic skills and love of knitting. Knitting several blankets for the cats and dogs home, jackets for penguins and quilts for presents.

Sophia, along with her Community Support Worker, loves a coffee or hot chocolate in the local cafes and weather depending, enjoys a walk on Brighton Beach. She also attends the local library and chooses DVD’s to watch at home. Cooking dinner and entertaining guests at home she does with ease and thrives on all things social. She brings regular laughter to other Marillac clients in their supported independent living homes where she is a much welcomed guest.

Born in Greece, Sophia was four years old when she came to Australia with her family. Her sister Anne and cousin Cathy routinely catch up with Sophia and they all enjoy several Greek events including church every Christmas.

Not one to shy away from the camera, Sophia posed for several photographs on her holiday to Tasmania.

Sophia and Leeanne, Sophia’s Marillac Support Worker, enjoyed seven days of participating in many activities on her trip and speaks of it often.
Sophia continues to engage with all the Marillac clients and staff bringing a smile to many faces.
