The coming together of two mission-based organisations is a time to celebrate so in recognition of the integration of Marillac Ltd and St John of God Accord, a Blessing Ceremony was hosted on 9 August 2017 at The Baths in Brighton. The Ceremony acknowledged the dedication and contribution made by The Daughters of Charity to Marillac Ltd, people with disability, staff and the community. It was also an opportunity to appreciate the significant historical contribution made by the Daughters of Charity since 1943.
During the transition of services, the Sisters exemplified a dignified approach and this highlighted the Mission and Values shared by both Accord and Marillac. This shared value system also builds a common organisational culture across Accord.
The Blessing Ceremony welcomed many people from Marillac Ltd, The Daughters of Charity, St John of God Health Care and St John of God Accord.
Also attended on behalf of St John of God Health Care was Ms Eva Skira, Trustee Chairman, Rev Dr Joseph Parkinson, Trustee Deputy Chairman, and Jack Moore, Trustee.
Tony Hollamby, CEO, St John of God Accord with several Accord executives and staff, joined Sr Celine Quadros, Provincial, Sr Debra McCarthy DC together with five Daughters of Charity, and former Board members from Marillac Ltd along with guests from several organisations and community.
David Moody from the National Disability Services provided an in-depth speech on the NDIS. Several words and stories of inspiration were exchanged and while the Blessing Ceremony finalised the end of one journey, it was evident from those present that this was the beginning of a beautiful new chapter.
