Recommencing Group Programs – Slowly but Safely

As of last week (June 15, 2020) SJG Accord is offering some programs to clients that have indicated they are ready to recommence group services.

This is happening in a very planned and measured way as the safety of our clients and caregivers continue to be our primary consideration.

While we are still some way off recommencing group programs as they were pre COVID 19, this is a significant step in the right direction. We are providing Individualised Services (IS) to clients who participated in group programs and (IS) is still available to any client who would like to access these support options.

Group programs for some individuals consists of two or three people in a group with one caregiver. We will assess how this works and slowly build up the groups as all parties feel it is safe to do so. We see this gradual return to groups as a partnership and encourage you to discuss any concerns you may have with us.

For those clients that have always received 1:1 support this arrangement will not change but inclusion in groups will slowly recommence as well.

Also, with State Govenment's announcement and changes to restrictions again over this weekend the numbers of clients we support will not increase any further at this point.

What we need from you?

We will undertake recommended screening of all the individuals that attend our service. This screening is in line with Government regulations and designed to protect all of us.

Screening Questions:

  1. Have you arrived from overseas or interstate in the past 14 days?
  2. Have you had close contact with a person who has a confirmed case of the Coronavirus in the last 14 days?
  3. Do you have any flu like symptoms?
  4. If so what are they?

If you answer yes to any of these questions we will need to cease supports until you are better and seek medical advice.

If any of our clients travels to the Community Campus by taxi, please consider the above questions each morning before leaving home. If the answer is yes to any of the questions, do not send your family member or client to the Community Campus but seek medical advice before recommencing services.
