CEO Update COVID-19 outbreak clearance.
I am pleased to inform you all that the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has cleared us, and officially closed the outbreak in our accommodation setting on 16 September 2020.
For a facility to be cleared of an outbreak:
- positive cases must have been individually cleared by the DHHS;
- close contacts must have completed their 14-day quarantine and returned a negative day 11 test; and
- a deep clean of the facility must be conducted.
The five week long outbreak did not have any further spread outside the original group identified in the contact tracing, and SJG Accord has been praised for containing and managing the spread, as well as for our preparedness and responsiveness to COVID-19.
At all times throughout this outbreak SJG Accord clients have shown incredible resilience and cooperation, and our caregivers have gone above and beyond to provide excellent care to all our clients, in what have been very challenging circumstances. I am incredibly proud to have been alongside you all during this process.
We continue to remain vigilant and screen caregivers before work, and measures that have been implemented to stop caregivers working across multiple sites at this time continue. Our cleaning processes have all been reviewed and are in line with DHHS recommendations and we have an adequate supply of PPE available for our caregivers, should it be required.
All in all, I am confident in our ability to keep you, your loved ones and our caregivers safe from harm, which is our highest priority.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me on Accord.CEO@sjog.org.au.
